Verucchio

FOCUS SUL LOCALE

The old town is the hearth of the Malatesta Seignory. It was from the Sasso Fortress of Verucchio that the centenarian Mastin Vecchio, founder of the Malatesta family, set forth to conquer and subsequently dominate the city of Rimini.

The old centre perfectly preserves its medieval origin and the entire area is rich in historical remains: the villanovian necropoli and ancient churches and convents which preserve rare treasures such as the cypress tree of Saint Francesco which is hundreds of years old.
