Terra del Sole: A splendid Renaissance town commissioned by Cosimo I De' Medici is one of the little city centres to boast a precise date of foundation: on 8th December 1564. It conserve still the fascination of the city-fortress, with two castles, Castello del Capitano delle Artiglierie and Castello del Governatore.

Example of Renaissance architecture the Palazzo Pretorio, the Palazzo del Provveditore and the almost intact Medici prisons.
The Museum of Man and Environment is also of interest: recently renewed and widened, it is articulated through 25 rooms and two circuits of visit: the first one on historical-architectonic character while the second one is aimed to the deepening of the etno-anthropological and territorial aspects.
