San Piero in Bagno: This is the most important centre as well as the capital of the Municipality, and lies in the Valley along the banks of the River Savio. It is active in building, forestry, metal-working and clothing with an efficient network of services, restaurants, hotels, leisure and sport facilities. It came into being as a market beneath Castle Corzano and developed under Florentine dominance.
In the airy square, bordered by elegant palaces, the busy weekly market still takes place. In the 18th and 19th C it benefited from elegant features bestowed by the architect Cesare Spighi.
