Russi boasts a history that goes back thousands of years, as the archaeological area with the important Villa Romana attests.Â
In the historical town centre ruins of the medioeval castle are still present. Beside the Roman Villa, surrounded by a natural green area, Russi offers to visitors a remarkable art gallery with archeological displays, a sacred art collection, a museum of rural pottery and an interesting bell collection.
Near the Roman Villa is also located San Giacomo Palace (of which the first informations dates back to 1155).
The present structure was built in the XVIIth century. Two remarkable parish churches, located in the sorrounding area, enrich Russi`s artistic and historical heritage.
