FOCUS SUL LOCALE

Cervia, the antique city of salt, is not just a seaside resort, but also a town steeped in culture and history. By strolling around the centre you will discover the charm of a city which was completely reconstructed brick by brick at the end of the XVII century.

Be sure to visit the Salt Storehouse, which currently houses important displays and exhibitions, soon to become the new location of the Salt Museum, St. Michael`s Tower, the Cathedral, the Town Hall and Garibaldi Square, heart of the historical quarters were prestigious events, markets and concerts take place.

Worthy of a visit is the local Theatre, Suffragio Church, with its organ by Callido, St. Antonio`s church and the small Pisacane square where there is a historical building which was once the Fish Market. Of particular beauty is the "suspended carpet", a multi-coloured carpet decorated with mosaic, conceived by Tonino Guerra on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Foundation of New Cervia.

In the centuries old pinewood lies the Spa Centre of Cervia, regarded as an avant-garde structure for its perfect synergy between the latest thermal research work and nature.

The Salt Pans of Cervia form a nature reserve which covers an area of 827 hectares from where "liman" or lagoon mud and water, precious elements for a healthy life, is extracted. Thanks to the rich presence of bird life, the salt pans form the South Station of the Regional Park of the Po Delta.
