Boncellino was once a "castle" belonging to the Counts of Cunio. On the ruins of the old parish church now stands the Church of the Nativita' di Maria which preserves the"authentic" relics of a number of saints and valuable 18the and 19th C. paintings and statues.
In Boncellino was born in 1824 the Passatore - popular name of Stefano Pelloni - a bandit who was transformed by popular tradition into a romantic hero.
In its territory, worth of mention are a series of farm houses known as "case Guidi" (among whom Errani house, Boschi house, Sangiorgi house along via Boncellino).
These houses, all designed in the same style, were built by Guidi Count of Faenza who owned several lands in the Bagnacavallo area.
The peculiar style of these houses tells that they were built symmetrically twinned; sometimes the symmetry point was formed by the kiln were bricks used to be baked. Among these worth of mention is Casa Baldini with its XVIIIth century oratory and some monumental trees protected by Regione Emilia Romagna.
Every year, around the 25th of april, the traditional Festa del Passatore "Lom a premavira".
