FOCUS SUL LOCALE

The village is overlooked by the millenary fortress datin to the 10th Century which gave hospitality to the Emperor Frederick Barbarossa in 1177.

Today the Fortress houses the Residential University Centre linked to the "Alma Mater Studiorum" of Bologna and the Museum of the Religions of the Book.

Bertinoro is known for its wine and cuisine and is considered the "City of hospitality" for the tradition of the Ring column, with as many rings as the local families. A stranger who arrived and reined his horse to one of the rings was the guest of the family to whom the ring belonged.

The tradition of Hospitality Feast is repeated each year on the first Sunday in September. At about 5 km from Bertinoro rises Fratta Terme around the ancient wellsprings, already known during the Roman period.
