Alfero
Alfero: Alfero lies in the Romagna-Tuscany Apennines in a valley carved by the fresh and clear waters of the Alferello. It is surrounded by chestnuts, beeches, bitter oaks and fir trees. It is the largest community in the Municipality of Verghereto and a charming tourist resort.

It grew up on the border of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Papal State, and it is still possible to see, near to the Church of Sant'Andrea, the boundary stone bearing the Medici coat of arms with five circles on one side and the keys of Saint Peter on the other.
Among the events not be missed is the "Contest of the Donkeys", the folkloristic "Meeting of the Alpine Regiment" and the traditional "Chestnut Festival".
