Duse Theater Bologna: Since the mid-seventeenth century performances are held in the same place where now stands the Eleonora Duse Theater. From that time when the theater was managed by the College of Nobles "San Saverio" directed by the Jesuits to nowaday, the Duse has gone through several renovations and has changed owners several times, names and genres of live performance.
Thus, over time, The Theater alternated with representations sacred topics and circus performances, opera productions (with the only exhibition by Callas in Bologna) a festival of prose and concerts of classical music, jazz and pop.
No protagonist of Italian scenes, and often also from the international scenes escaped the boards of Duse Theater.
Among these Macario, Cervi, Ferro, Randone, Lionello, Gaber, Gassmann, De Filippo, Magnani, Melato, Lavia, Giannini, Fo, Noiret, Moriconi, Poli and countless others.
Obviously among those unforgettable names, excels that of Eleonora Duse which the theater was named after when he was still alive and in full swing.
Since 1963, the theater is managed directly by Ente Teatrale Italiano, a prestigious public institution and a national reference point since 1942 for the support and promotion of theatrical culture in Italy.
