Alfredo Testoni Theater Casalecchio

The building began its life as a '' and was initially intended to hold only one complete meeting room with tunnel. But, as stated in a document preserved in the historical archove of Casalecchio, the lack of an adequate facility for meetings, conferences, shows and the public complaint at the time, led the organizing committee to begin work in the most grand and complete Theater.

The project, which is still a copy at the historical archive, dating from 1921-26 and is signed by engineer Carlo Tornelli from Bologna.
It included: the ground floor, a large stage, space for the orchestra in the pit and groove with a wide audience, while upstairs a gallery were placed centrally in an amphitheater and two other buildings on the balcony to the antlers, in whole The theater could hold up to 1200 spectators. The hind wings were located in premises where there are dressing rooms and administrative offices. The rest of the building could house the "Fascist house" a small hotel, library and buffet.

Elsewhere it is stated that the theater was opened in 1931 after the death of Alfredo Testoni.
The theater can also be used as a cinema, was granted to a private management since 1930, limited to four nights a week: Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while in the remaining days the hall was available to the City for meetings, conferences, festivals and benefit performances.
Since then, the management of this theater has always been given to individuals, at least until 1967 when delayed modernization works have forced the closure.
Some refurbishment works are carried out since shortly after the war, then in 1963, the Municipal Technical Office notes that the theater is in a poor state of repair, so it is necessary to a work of reorganization which is expected very expensive.
