GFT= Gruppo Finanziario Tessile works in the clothing industry. It was founded in the 1930 after the amalgamation of two societies, Donato Levi e figli and the woollen mill of Biella. In the 1954 was took over by Franco, Silvio and Piergiorgio Rivetti brothers who gave a new image to the company.

In the 60’s they extend the production to the female lines. The most famous is Cori (Confezioni Rivetti) designed by Biki.  

In the 1971 Marco Rivetti took on the leadership and started to make trade agreements. He could sold clothes designed by Ungaro, Armani, Valentino (Valentino Boutique and Miss V), Louis Feraud, Massimo Osti, Chiara Boni and Claude Montana.

Gft Usa was born in the 1977 also for Canada and Mexico. In the 80’s the company controlled 35 societies, other 18 indipendent companies in foreign countries and new markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, and Corea. Gft expanded the activity in Northern America and in the East, in a period not so happy for those countries. There was a crisis.

The Group of Turin was incorporated by Hdp Holding in 1997.  

2001. The Group bought the american brand Joseph Abboud and all of its licence contracts. It was not famous in Europe but it was successful in the United States, Great Britain and Japain, with a line of classic and sporty menswear.

2002, February. Revedi companies sold Sahzà to Mariella Burani’s group in October 2001 and the managed commercial areas in Italy and and Switzerland. Gft had cooperated with Calvin Klein for the male line.

2002, November. Profits had been halved from 99,5 to 48,3 millions of euros. The deficit is due to Calvin Klein’business. Valentino and Facis had given up buying Gft products. Gft lost 2 millions of euros.  

2003, February.Gft closed his doors and dismesse the entire personnel, that was composed by 149 employees and 187 workers . Joseph Abboud is the single brand still sold by Gft.
