   History of Ridolla  

 

     Once…    
The history of the Ridolla horse-centre begins in 1979, when Luigi and Anna, in love with horses, decide to oper their business with a couple of horses borrowed from the Villa di Sotto farm, Three miles away from Premilcuore.
In these first years their business is limited to the week-end, Luigi working aa a forester and Anna as ceramics artisan.
     But the success of their enterprise, marked by an increasing influx of tourists, makes it necessary to search for a more suitable place for the business: consequently it comes the decision to lend "Cà  Ridolla" and the surrounding lands, belonging to the region of Emilia Romagna. So in 1981 the enclosures works for the new horse center and those of the re-building of the house and of the contiguous stable start.

 

         The horse center is in its great activity, and the customers, still hosted in Luigi and Anna's private house,     can enjoy the wonderful landscape of the woods on the ridge and the company of the managers, also busied in the restoration activity. The Farm promotes several "green weeks" as well, during which it offers hospitality to school children, and offers them many activities, such as riding, ceramics works and painting.

 

     Today…    
     After it are delivered up like Cooperative in 1986, the activity starts and door a.termine in 1988 the restructure of Ca' Ridolla. To the inauguration of the lodgings and the restaurant it makes followed the construction of the scuderie. The Cooperative therefore has widened until today its structures and improved considerably the quality of the services offers. The respect for the own origins and the beautifulst nature that encircles them is still the principles that guide the activity of Anna and Luigi.          
     The Kitchen of Ridolla    
The Cà  Ridolla kitchen offers a wide range of dishes of the cookery tradition of Tuscany and Romagna. The production of Cà  Ridolla comes from a little biological kitchen-garden and consists of greens and vegetables, available both for guests and for the managers. Moreover at Cà  Ridolla, you will enjoy pleasant nights listening to live music under the summer strarry skies.

 

     The horse training    
We offer a wide range of services to the lovers of riding, the most skilled riders will be offered to ride for several hours or all day long.

 

     The riding tourism    
You can have a different holiday in a natural environment, the best chance to know the beauties of the National Park of the Cantinese Forests, passeggiando in sella ad , having rides on our horses and spending some days at Ridolla. On a horse, but non only in this way, you can see very interesting places: the mills of Mengozza and of Castel dell'Alpe, both restored and working, the Acquacheta Falls, in San Benedetto, the Natural Reserve of sasso Frattino, the botanical garden of Valbonella, the Flora and Fauna Museum of Premilcuore. Thanks to the eighteen horses of secure reliability, who approaches the world of riding for the first time can attend the lessons given by qualified teachers. You also have the possibility to leave your horses on board in some boxes, paddocks and in a twenty place stable.

 

     The Farm of Ridolla    
The farm of Anglo-Arabian Sardinian horses has been on active service for years; at the moment the farm has got a thorough-bred and several
six months and one year old colts, specimen suited to riding tourism and to endurance races. Moreover at Cà  Ridolla a sheep farm is on active service, for the production of home-grown dairy produce and cheeses.

 

     The village, Premilcuore    
The road climbs up the Rabbi valley  and offers, close to the National Parks of Cantinesi Forests, Falterona Mount  and Campigna the view of a luxuriant hollow, where a country town called Premilcuore is set. Here it is one of the most characteristic places of the Apennines ridge, the link between the usages and customs of two neighbouring regions merging in Romagna Toscana. Staying in Premilcuore, having walks in that green lung which is the Park , Park or along the little roads of the still untouched medieval village, or dipping in the cristal waters of the Rabbi lake is like sipping an elixir in a fantastic dream of incomparable happiness.
