La grande meridiana di Oltremare é alta circa mt 2,80 e pesa 230 Kg. Lo gnomone é costruito in bronzo e il quadrante é stato realizzato utilizzando diversi tipi di pietre naturali.
Al di sopra di essa un frangisole composto da centinaia di celle fotovoltaiche trasforma l'energia solare in elettrica.
